This book is actually a compilation of two books previously published called "Punk Rock Diary 1970-1979" and "Post Punk Rock Diary 1980-1982" by George Gimarc.

I purchased the second book directly from George (who had listed it on eBay - it was out of stock on Amazon) and received a signed copy in the mail. Once I read the book I sought out the previous book. I enjoyed both books immensely and predict that the content in the current form (Punk Diary from 2005) will enthrall all of you who also have an interest in music, and in particular Punk and New Wave music from the 1970s and 1980s.

The book basically recalls news and published articles from the era in chronological order. Having lived through those years and fondly remembering my own experiences, it's wonderful to have the context behind what was happening in the music scene from that time. The books went really far to explain some of the events that shaped the formation and disintegration of the various bands - the events detailed also gave some insight into the movements of artists from band to band. I also liked the reviews, especially for some of my favs - many who weren't very well regarded during their formative years.

I also like some of the information that George "infills" about future artists and what they were doing/thinking during various periods. I think he adds a lot to the telling.
